The Foodtech Living Labs Platform powered by FOODPathS serves as a central hub of collaboration and innovation for Europe’s foodtech sector. It comes as a result of the mapping and reviewing of living labs across Europe, identifying succesful models that can be scaled and adapted elserwhere.

It is designed to connect national and regional Food Systems Living Labs (FS-Labs) from across Europe, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, insights, and successful practices.

What are Food Systems Living Labs?

At the core of our platform are FS-Labs—collaborative environments where research meets practice. These labs are driven by research and innovation (R&I) approaches, in where diverse public and private stakeholders (food manufacturers, farmers, retailers, technology providers, policymakers, and more) at a national, local and regional level come together to co-create new products, services, and solutions to address diverse food system challenges such as:

Environmental and social sustainability
Circular economy practices
Nutrition and health
Food security
Digital innovation

The Foodtech Living Labs Platform

This Platform aims to:

Unite stakeholders from across the food system value chain, including food producers, retailers, policymakers, and tech providers.
Facilitate collaboration between different regions and sectors, creating a space for exchanging ideas and co-creating solutions.
Promote sustainability by focusing on innovations that support the circular economy, reduce environmental impact, improve public health and foster fair & just practices.
Foster innovation by connecting living labs and leveraging the best research and development practices across Europe.

Through this hub, living labs can:

Share Best Practices: Learn from the experiences of other labs and apply these insights to local contexts.
Scale Innovations: Promote solutions that work in one region across the broader European food system.
Collaborate Across Borders: Establish cross-border partnerships that enhance both national and regional efforts.

In alignment with the European Partnership for Sustainable Food Systems for People, Planet, & Climate (FutureFoods) this platform is designed to capitalize on national strategies and connect them with living labs from other partnerships and projects at the EU level. By fostering these connections, we ensure that stakeholders from diverse sectors have access to cutting-edge foodtech innovations and practices.
